San Sebastian wins by 1 point against Ateneo in OT 0 695

The UAAP NCAA Alumni Friendship Games started 4 years ago as a way to spark the fellowship of the alumni within each school and relive the past.  This year didn’t disappoint.  Everyone seemed to be back in their old self.  The players turned into their own beast mode self, became very competitive, the alumni fans cheered their hearts out, taunted the referees, the opposing players, took their pompoms out, and beat their drums to death!  The players and the rest of the alumni felt and acted like they were back in their high school or college days again.  Credit goes to San Sebastian for doing an outstanding job as the host school this year that everyone got their monies’ worth because if there’s one place that you can actually relive your past, this is it.

The road to the championship game wasn’t easy for either teams.  Ateneo had to beat La Salle, UST (the defending champion), and San Beda in their bracket and San Sebastian had to go through Letran, UP, and Mapua in their own bracket.  In the playoffs, Ateneo had to beat last year’s runner-up, San Beda, again in a much closer fight and San Sebastian did the same against Letran.  Final score of the game was 50-49 in favor of San Sebastian and MVP was San Sebastian’s Justin Haro.  The spirit of competitiveness with the players all over the court was pretty obvious, but the spirit of friendship among schools is felt far more dominantly throughout the tournament.  After all, it’s what the UAAP NCAA Alumni Friendship Games is all about.
